Berroco was founded in 1968 as a subsiduary of Stanley Woolen Mills - a wool mill company founded in 1810 in Massachusetts. The Berroco yarn company is now one of the largest importers and wholesalers of handknitting yarns, patterns and supplies in the United States. Yarns come from such diverse places as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, New Zealand, Japan, Brazil, and Uruguay.
Berroco yarns are usually sold with a Berroco pattern that complements the fabric. Many of them are free.
The Berroco handknitting yarn collection includes some of the finest and most fashionable fibers in the market. The yarns come in every type of fiber possible and are renowned for their vivid colors in both solid and varigated colors.
In 1995, Berroco became a US distributor of top-quality Inox and Clover knitting needles rounding out their offering to the handknitter.
